Reflection

Her voice rings in my ears.

It's where angels sing.

Her eyes reflect mine.

If I get lost there she is.

Guiding me along the dusty path

where spider webs lock.

Me and my life long friend.

My shield of protection

against the wind.

She sings me to sleep.

Creating harmony within.

Spinning veils.

Fabricating small intricate threads.

Where does one string begin

and the other end.

In celebration of my daughter's 19th birthday.

Pure Imagination

Pure Imagination

Do some things defy explanation?

Sometimes... I just sit back and view paradise.

Freedom.

Pure freedom.

A bird's flight.

For the last several years In my personal life
I have had the distinct opportunity to experience freedom
on an extreme level.

Freedom gives an individual power. It fuels imagination and creativity.

Closing my heavy lids and taking fancy flights
through forests dripping with fog and streaming light,
twisted branches pointing to my next destination.
Black birds with opalescent wings.
Reflective oil slick rainbows swinging in the wind
as they glide through the buoyant air.
Click. Click.
Visuals in my mind.
Experiencing pure imagination
and lovely freedom in my head.
Because after all my eyes take pictures
even when they are shut.

There's nothing to it.

Besides...

"Living there you will be free if you truly wish to be."

The Guiding Light

Chiaroscuro.

Italian for light-dark.

Strong contrasts.

A sense of poetry.

Ebony colored shadows curving around beautiful shapes of

bodies and raw skin meeting up with luminous glowing light.

Filling shapes like calming harmonious notes in a symphony.

Creating secrets that remain obscure.

My love affair with mystery, drama and emotion in my art.

The constant chase of mastering light and shadow.

My fascination with what some say is my dark side.

Guided by illumination and divine intervention.

Transparency

As a photographer meeting new people that you are going to shoot is always
an interesting adventure.
I see many layers in each person, but it is the layer that the individual chooses to
expose that is revealed to you first.
A true artist can dig below layers one and two to a much deeper place,
exposing the place that is transparent.

This is where the light is allowed to pass through the soul so that any
layers behind can be distinctly seen.

It's lucent here with no pretense.

This is where the magic happens.

And it happens in a split second.

The Way I See The World

There is something very few people know about me… if any.
On a daily basis I live in an incredibly hyper visual world.
Sometimes I feel as if God handed me a very special pair of eyes to see the world with before sending me on my way. My eyes take photos literally every 5 seconds.
Ever since I was a child I see shapes from shadows in the distance.
Very quickly a distant stop sign is a lion or crumbled stones in a pile are a bent over old man.
I wish I had the ability to blink and take the photo.

I read somewhere once that photographers actually see the world
differently after a certain number of years looking through the view finder of a camera.
For me everything slows down, and life really does become a gorgeous 11 x 14 print…
Everywhere I look.

It definitely stirs my soul.

This year I have committed to myself to realize my photographic visions
closer to the level of what I actually see with my eyes.
Part of this is the start of a new series of self portraits.

I cannot wait to express my visions and stories.

After all… the camera does not lie.
